Lyonbiopôle is a world-class competitiveness cluster situated in the Rhône-Alpes Region. It is devoted to health and particularly to the fight against infections and cancers. Therefore, it brings together expertise not only in functional biology and large-scale industrial production (around Lyon city), but also in structural biology and microtechnology (around Grenoble city).
Given that the cluster aims at understanding human and animal infectious diseases, going from diagnostic and prevention to treatment by original administration systems, it supports R&D projects involving infectology, virology, parasitology, bacteriology, and immunology.
These multi-partner research projects contribute to linking the industrial and academic spheres and bringing them closer around public health issues. In fact, Lyonbiopôle has succeeded in gathering major industry leaders (BioMérieux, Sanofi Pasteur, Merial, Genzyme, Becton Dickinson, etc.), SMEs (PX'Therapeutics, Alizé Pharma, OPi, Transgene, Flamel Technologies, GenOway, ImmunID, Innate Pharma...), academic and hospitals’ actors (Hospices Civils de Lyon, CNRS, INSERM, ENS, CEA, Universities of Lyon, Pasteur Institute, etc.), and local authorities (Grand Lyon, Rhône-Alpes Region, Grenoble-Alpes Métropole...).
